Dear Friends of ACS:

I want to take this opportunity to explain why the
chapter has been inactive for the past year and what
our prospects for the future are. I underwent the
removal of a benign brain tumor in July of 2006.
Although the prognosis at the time was very good—I was
told I would be home in 5-10 days—something went wrong
during or after the surgery and I ended up spending 9
months in the hospital and rehab. I am at home now,
with my children and living independently, but this
incidence has left me with some unexpected challenges.
I have returned to Skyline
College. I am not teaching yet, but hope to be soon.
Because of this major life change, my priorities have
shifted a bit and I don’t feel that I can devote time
and energy to ACS at this time. We are hoping to pass
the ACS torch to a new group of devoted whale fans. I
am happy to speak with anyone who is interested in
picking up where we left off. We do have some money
in the bank, and we would love to see the speaker
series and other chapter events continue. Please feel
free to contact me if you have any questions. I can
be reached via email at bookstaffs@smccd.edu or by
phone at 650-557-0506.
Thanks for your dedicated support to protect whales,
dolphins and porpoises.
Best Fishes,
Shari
