Please join us for an illuminating evening with Dr. Patrick Robinson as he shares some of the research findings from the UC Santa Cruz elephant seal research program. He will discuss the research methods used to study these animals on their epic migrations and share what he and other researchers have learned about their elusive lives in the deep mesopelagic zone. In addition to highlighting results from behavioral, physiological, ecological, and oceanographic research, he will share some of the remaining mysteries and future areas of research.
This free event is open to the public. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. A suggested donation of $10 per participant is encouraged and greatly appreciated. About Dr. Patrick Robinson:
Despite growing up in land-locked Colorado, Patrick developed a love for the ocean and the unique California coastline. This drew him to UC Santa Cruz as an undergraduate in 1999 and he never left! He received a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology in 2003, worked with Professor Dan Costa to get his PhD in 2009, continued as a post-doctoral researcher, and became the Director of Año Nuevo Reserve in 2012. For the last 12 years, he has been facilitating research and education activities at the Reserve - helping to train the next diverse generation of researchers.
